 Setting Goals

Setting goals for yourself is super important in your Self Growth Plan. Having goals is like a benchmark that you set for yourself. Whether it is to get a new job or lose a few pounds or scale a high mountain- goals are necessary. When setting goals, it is important to make sure that you are setting S.M.A.R.T goals. Find out how to set these kind of goals from our NLG Members area- Click here. You can also learn how to connect your Values to your S.M.A.R.T goals in our VSAAA mini course. You should also make sure that your values are aligned with your goals. Read here 5 Ways to know if your values are aligned with your goals.

Here are 5 Ways you can make yourself accountable after setting goals.

Tell Everyone

A good way to make sure that you follow through on your goals or what you say you are going to do is to tell everyone. This way if you do not hold yourself accountable, the people you are telling will hold you to it. There is also an embarrassment factor to telling people you are going to do something and then don't end up doing it.

Take Baby Steps

Having too many goals that are big and grandiose in nature tends to overwhelm your system and makes you less likely to fulfill your goals. Instead break down your goals into smaller more achievable increments. This allows you to have a slow but steady and consistent process.

Get Visual

Making something like a Vision Board can help you to keep your goals visual at all times.  Vision Boards allow you to see visually if you are making any progress.  They are also kind of dreamy but with a purpose. They are easy to make, we show our members how to make one through our Vision Board Made Easy eBook.

 Create To-do Lists

This one is an obvious one but you might be surprised how many people neglect to create "to-do" lists. Having an itemized list of your goals or things you need to do on a daily basis to achieve your overall goal or goals is great in keeping you focused. It also give you a real sense of accomplishment when you are able to see things checked off your list.

Don't Look Back

This one is super important and this is what we tell our members not to do. The past is just that- the past. You can't change it. You can, however, focus on what is in front of you right now and where you want to be. Looking back at what you should have done does not accomplish anything and does nothing to advance your goals. Instead acknowledge responsibility, pivot to a place of action, a place where you recalibrate what you are doing to get things done.

At Next Level Gurus, we help our members focus on a solution driven path that promotes their self growth plan. We encourage you to incorporate actions that DO NOT focus on your past. Where you are right now is where you need to be. Fuel that with wisdom and an understanding that inaction is a product of knowledge not yet tweaked. Join our community by clicking the link below.
